Shartnet Crashes, fixed?

Shartnet Crashes, fixed?

The past few weeks we have had problems with our ISP rerouting (censoring) our traffic to Asia whenever we had a large spike of listeners. This rerouting dropped all of Shartnet's listeners every time it happened. We have tried to remedy this by introducing a "reconnect" function into the mobile apps, and that is helping with retaining listeners through crashes. The past few days, we have had new listeners from Europe and America become more prevalent, and they are unaffected by these reroutes through Asia. So you can see on the stats page that we have spikes of listeners being dropped every hour or so by the evil ISP, but our overall user base is now largely unaffected because the demographic has changed.

Keep listening to Shartnet, we are literally playing the music that you aren't allowed to hear.

Popular page and other new stuff

I made a page for people to see which popular songs have been played in the past few days. You can check that page  out here. Some new changes were made to the radio stream too. Now we will be hearing an introduction before each popular voted song when we play them. We also have roughly an hour of the daily top voted songs which will be playing at 16:15 (japanese standard time) each day. Stay tuned for more changes!

Vote me up!

Vote me up!

Hey, we just rolled out a new feature. A popular-voting system. You can now vote for your favorite song to be featured. Once an hour, we will tally all the votes and play the song with the highest amount of votes. You can only vote once every ten minutes, so keep voting and listening in to hear your favorite song!

Doh!

Doh!

Sorry listeners, we had a technical burp and rebooted the streaming server today. The technical problem occurred when one of our technicians mistyped a rm -rf command, and accidentally deleted all the songs in our library. We swiftly restored from backup, but had to reboot the server in the process. Sorry about that!

New Counter

New Counter

There is a new counter for counting listeners. The last counter was only counting roughly half of the amount of listeners we had at any moment. The new counter is using a different algorithm to count all the current listeners.

Server Migration

Server Migration

We did a server migration over the weekend. Last week, we peaked with a high of roughly 200 listeners, and due to Murphy's Law, some of the services on our server stopped working. That is why the Shart Chart was offline for most of the weekend. We are back now, with better hardware and ready to rumble.

Hey listeners! This is where I will be posting informal updates about the development of Shartnet. I am not a very eloquent writer, but I will try my best.
